Espresso Drinks

The espresso can be found in just about every popular drink served up in coffee houses around the world. Lets take a quick look at a few of the more popular drinks and how they are made!
Espresso
Although tiny it is the foundation for so many great coffee drinks. Usually it is made with just about half the water but twice the coffee required to make a regular drip coffee. It can be served as a single shot also known as an “Espresso Solo” or a double shot “Espresso Dopio”. A well made espresso always has a fine layer of foam called crema that occurs in the process of making the espresso.
Cappuccino
A well known drink to those who frequent the coffee bars. The recipe for a Cappucino is equal parts espresso, steamed milk and frothed milk.
Caffe Latte
A Caffe Latte is a bit different than the Cappucino in that it contains much more milk and little to no frothed milk. Three parts milk to one part coffee is usually the rule of thumb here. And of course if you are feeling a bit artistic you may want to try your hand at some latte art as you pour in the steamed milk!
Caffe Mocha
The rich chocolate flavor along with an espresso twist is always a popular choice. For the most part a Caffe Mocha is similar to a Cafe Latte with the exception that the Mocha contains either chocolate syrup or powder in it.
Americano
An Americano is for those who are looking for a bit more flavor in coffee not found in drip. Americano is easily created by using a shot or two of espresso and filling the remainder of the cup with hot water.
Cafe Machiato
For those who love foam on top of your drink but still crave an espresso this is a perfect fit. Usually served in small cup you can get one or two shots of espresso with a spoonful of foam lightly placed on top.
Espresso Con Panna
And last but not least, for those who enjoy espresso’s but are looking for a bit more sweetness the Espresso Con Panna may be just for you! Usually served as a one or two shot espresso topped with whipped cream!
Enjoy your espresso’s!
